The Victorian Government is establishing 50 government-owned and operated early learning centres by 2032 as part of the Best Start, Best Life reforms. The centres will offer childcare, Three and Four-Year-Old Kindergarten and Pre-Prep. The centres will provide high-quality, accessible and inclusive early childhood education and care that is child centred, focused on learning through play and in nature, with strong connections to local communities.
Early Learning Victoria's central office is part of the Victorian Department of Education. The central team is leading the roll-out of the 50 centres and will support and oversee centre operations once they open.

Location Profile

Workforce Coordinator - Early Learning Victoria Regional North

Salary band - $97,955 - $111,142

The Workforce Coordinator will service the Regional North centres, including the newly opened Eaglehawk location in 2025, as well as three new centres in Numurkah, Shepparton & Wedderburn opening in 2026. The incumbent will primarily service the north region, however there may also be a requirement to travel to Melbourne CBD.

Role Purpose

The Workforce Coordinator works with Early Learning Victoria centres to support workforce development and retention initiatives, including implementing training programs, identifying skill gaps and creating pathways for career advancement. The role assists centre directors with people management strategies to create a highly collaborative and quality-based workforce culture, built on a foundation of continuous feedback and improvement. In addition, this role provides administrative support in matters relating to misconduct and performance management, including taking meeting notes, assisting with plan development and maintaining accurate and confidential records.

The Workforce Coordinator works under the direction of the Area Manager, and with close engagement with the Workforce Policies and Programs team. The role supports the Area Manager with workforce attraction through building relationships with local secondary schools, VET Providers, and Universities building a local workforce pipeline. They support events to promote working with ELV and gain knowledge on the local sector workforce environment.

Experience required will include

Experience in child and family services preferred but not essential

Experience in Employee Relations and with people and performance management

Experience with the implementation of workforce planning strategies and change management initiatives

Effective communication and stakeholder management skills

Specific skills/qualifications required

A degree in Human Resources or similar would be highly desirable

Valid `Employee' Working with Children Check

Willingness to consent to a Police Check (to be arranged by Early Learning Victoria)

International Police Check required if resided outside of Australia for 12 months or more during the last 10 years
