Posted 6 days ago
Tandem Partners are delighted to partner with a well-established, family-founded transport business operating across Victoria. With decades of heritage, the organisation is rooted in strong community values while evolving to meet modern, customer-focused, and performance-driven goals.
Currently undergoing significant transformation, including investment to support growth and cultural change, this is an exciting time to join and help shape a future-focused HR function.
The opportunity:
This role offers the chance to join a collaborative and high-performing HR team as a HR Business Partner, supporting roughly half of the business, including the public transport, Commercial & Planning, and IT portfolios.
As the trusted HR partner to several General Managers and senior leaders, you will deliver both strategic and operational HR support across a diverse workforce of around 1,200 employees, the majority of whom are frontline drivers working under union agreements.
You will:
- Lead and manage ER/IR matters, including monthly union meetings, roster consultations, and engagement with TWU delegates.
- Support and coach frontline leaders to build capability and drive consistent, confident people management.
- Manage complex employee relations matters including casework, conflict resolution, and change consultations.
- Deliver people initiatives across workforce planning, performance, development, engagement, and culture.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic and practical HR guidance.
- Partner with HR colleagues on transformation projects, including systems, policy uplift, and process improvements.
- Contribute to organisational change initiatives and broader strategic HR projects.
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Lead and HR Coordinator to support recruitment and workforce planning.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and safety-related obligations across your portfolio.
You will bring:
With experience in generalist HR roles supporting operational or blue-collar-heavy businesses, you will also bring:
- Proven experience in a generalist HR Business Partner role, ideally supporting operational or blue-collar-heavy industries
- Strong expertise in employee and industrial relations, particularly within unionised environments, with confidence managing complex casework, grievances, and restructures.
- A solid understanding of Australian employment law and Fair Work processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels of the organisation.
- A collaborative and hands-on approach, committed to delivering best practice HR solutions.
- Demonstrated success in leading organisational change programs with thorough consultation processes.
- Proficiency in HR systems and comfort working with data (experience with Martian Logic is a plus).
- Agility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.
Experience in regulated sectors or 24/7 environments, and a practical commitment to diversity and inclusion- especially in increasing female participation in operations - will be highly regarded.
If you are confident that your experience reflects the criteria outlined, please apply on-line to the attention of Jessica Tovey referencing Job 3960934.
