This is a unique opportunity for a communications professional to play a key role in supporting a major program of infrastructure works in one of Queensland's fastest-growing regions. You'll be part of a forward-thinking team that's driving community awareness and engagement across a range of transformative transport projects.
About the Role:
As a Senior Communications Advisor, you'll lead the planning and delivery of strategic communication and stakeholder engagement initiatives across a variety of transport and infrastructure projects. Your work will help inform the community, support project delivery, and build public confidence in the long-term benefits of these works.
You'll work closely with internal project teams, local stakeholders, and the wider community to craft clear, engaging content that keeps everyone connected to the progress on the ground. Whether that's through media releases, social media updates, newsletters, or on-site materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic communication plans to support project milestones and community engagement goals.
- Write and edit a variety of content across digital, print, and media platforms, tailored to diverse audiences.
- Support proactive media relations, stakeholder briefings, and public information campaigns.
- Collaborate with technical teams to translate complex project updates into accessible, community-friendly messaging.
- Build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment.
- Monitor emerging issues and provide strategic advice to support risk mitigation and reputation management.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of community engagement activities and provide input into consultation strategies.
About You:
You're an experienced communications specialist with a flair for storytelling and a strategic mindset. You're confident navigating complex projects and enjoy making technical information understandable and relevant for the public.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Proven experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or public relations - preferably in government, infrastructure, or community-based settings.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- A demonstrated ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
- Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines in a busy, changing environment.
- Experience developing content for media, social media, newsletters, and community materials.
- A proactive, solutions-focused attitude with the ability to anticipate challenges and respond quickly.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (desirable).
- IAP2 Certification is advantageous.
- Current C-Class driver's licence (required).
You'll be joining a collaborative, purpose-driven team working on projects that genuinely impact the lives of Queenslanders.
