Payroll Supervisor

• $135,000 - $145,000 + super

PSG are partnered with leading business South of the River who are recruiting a Payroll Supervisor on a 12-month FTC as part of a transformation project. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuity during this critical period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the payroll team to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing across the organisation.
• Oversee all aspects of payroll including salaries, superannuation, benefits, terminations, and leave entitlements.
• Provide hands-on support with complex payroll tasks and journal preparation.
• Mentor, train, and develop a newly formed payroll team, building confidence and capability.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, awards, tax obligations, and company policies.
• Assist with audits and reporting, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and support transition readiness for the upcoming system implementation.
• Support change management initiatives and act as a key continuity point for the payroll function.

About You:

• Extensive end-to-end payroll experience in a complex, high-volume environment.
• Proven leadership experience managing or supervising a payroll team.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards, EBAs, and compliance obligations.
• Ability to coach and develop less experienced team members.
• Highly proficient with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel (journal creation, reconciliations).
• Experience in the mining/resources or industrial sectors preferred.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
