About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with premium ingredients and contribute to our reputation for culinary excellence in a beautiful lakeside setting.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, season, and cook all items on our extensive all-day menu, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
Expertly execute a range of dishes, from classic breakfast options like Eggs Benedict and Salted Caramel Waffles to unique lunch creations such as our Potato Rosti Burger and Fresh Calamari Salad.
Manage food preparation and cooking processes, including regulating the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment to ensure optimal results.
Ensure exceptional plate presentation and consistent portioning for all dishes, upholding the high visual and quality standards for our dine-in, outdoor, and takeaway services.
Meticulously inspect all incoming stock and foodstuffs for freshness and quality, maintaining strict inventory control and storage procedures in temperature-controlled facilities.
Skillfully adapt dishes to accommodate special dietary requirements (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free) while maintaining flavour and presentation integrity.
Maintain impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen, adhering to all safe food handling practices and occupational health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with the team to contribute ideas for our weekly specials, utilising seasonal produce and showcasing culinary creativity.
Assist in estimating food requirements and managing stock levels to ensure the kitchen is well-prepared for service.
Potentially assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a commercial cafe or restaurant kitchen
Strong knowledge of breakfast and lunch preparation techniques
Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene procedures
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities in fast-paced environment
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
High standard of personal hygiene and cleanliness
Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and rotating shifts
Preferred:
Experience with modern Australian cafe cuisine
Knowledge of dietary accommodation for gluten-free and vegetarian options
Leadership skills for supervising junior staff
