About the role
The Field Officer will carry out operational plans, works programs and projects to maintain field centre infrastructure and facilities for the conservation and sustainable use of natural and cultural resources.
Based at the Derwent Field Centre in Seven Mile Beach, the Field Officer will help manage 90 diverse reserves including nature reserves, marine protected areas, historic sites and co-manage Mt Wellington. These spectacular reserves range from sub-alpine to coastal including numerous islands.
Each day will be different as you apply your practical skills and experience to contribute to the success of the team. You will undertake a wide range of tasks which could include firefighting, managing wildlife, managing visitor assets such as tracks and toilets, and you could find yourself traveling to remote or offshore locations.
Our ideal candidate has
- Practical experience in a minor construction works and maintenance.
- The ability to operate and maintain machinery, plant and equipment.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- The ability to work well in small teams.
- Initiative and self-motivation.
