Farm Manager – Blantyre

About the business

Blantyre Farms is a family owned and operated mixed farming business of over 7,000 hectares near Harden, Young and Cootamundra.

We have a permanent, full-time position available with an immediate start. We are looking for an honest, reliable person with mixed farming experience of sheep, cattle and cropping.

This position is on Blantyre’s Young farm running self-replacing Merino sheep, Angus cattle and broadacre dryland cropping of about 400 hectares of wheat and canola using modern and GPS equipped machinery.

Tasks & responsibilities

The role of Farm Manager is to oversee the day to day production and operation of the property in an efficient, safe and sustainable manner.

Implement animal production programs for sheep and cattle, including animal health, treatments, husbandry and paddock rotations,

Implement cropping and pasture program via operation of farm machinery including tractors, air seeders, boom sprays and headers,

Maintenance and repair of farm machinery and equipment, and infrastructure including buildings, fences and water systems,

Contribute to planning and budget meetings,

Maintenance of farm record keeping systems, ie Agriwebb.

Report to the General Manager - Pastoral

Staff management

Work with farm contractors including shearing and harvest teams,

Qualifications and experience

As a member of the Leadership team, you will demonstrate a proactive and enthusiastic attitude. You will have:

Experience in the agricultural industry across the sheep, cattle and cropping industries

Driver’s License, with a truck license desirable

A team of working dogs

Be tech savvy, with experience in Agriwebb an advantage

Chemcert qualification,

Experience with leading a team

Remuneration

An annual salary of $100,000.00 plus superannuation and quarterly bonus system, and vehicle for work purposes.
