Townsville Catholic Education Office supports 30 schools within the Diocese, located throughout a diverse region of North Queensland, extending west to Mount Isa, south to Proserpine, and north to Ingham. About the role
Townsville Catholic Education Office is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Business Analyst. This role is a Full Time, Permanent position commencing 6 October 2025.
The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) is an Information Technology professional who provides advise and guidance to business stakeholders across the divisions of Townsville Catholic Education and DARMS. The SBA is responsible for the collection, analysis and documentation of requirements to produce functional and technical specifications for system changes to achieve the strategic outcomes of TCE and DARMS.
Working with key stakeholders, the SBA has a delivery focus that works to provide creative solutions for improved IT services and outcomes. The SBA will work to collect, analyse and document services to improve business processes across TCE. Additionally, the incumbent will recommend changes to improve and create efficiencies in the organisation.
The SBA works 40% with DARMS and 60% with the TCE ITS Project Management Office, with dual reporting streams, dependent upon activities. The role may lead small, ad hoc teams.
Key accountabilities
As a valued member of the TCE team, you will:
Create suggestions and solutions for strategic and operational changes.
Consider opportunities and risks of these suggestions.
Plan systems or processes necessary to implement these changes, or alter existing ones.
Establish and maintain a collaborative working arrangement with other teams within ITS, TCE, DARMS and external service providers, to ensure quality service outcomes for clients of TCE and the Diocese of Townsville (e.g., students, teachers, employees and parishes).
Effectively acquire, maintain and improve knowledge of relevant IT standards, best practice and processes to ensure quality service outcomes.
Assist in the specification and application of IT standards within TCE and DARMS.
Research and maintain an understanding of the ICT environment.
Develop and prepare business and analytical reports and respond to internal correspondence.
Assist in various project activities and programs as required.
Produce and review outline system designs and specifications and overall architectures, topologies, configuration databases and design documentation of technologies within TCE and DARMS.
Other duties as directed.

Fulfil your legal and moral duty of care by ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students. Comply with mandatory reporting obligations under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 and the Child Protection Act 1999 and follow TCE’s Student Protection Processes and Guidelines.
About you
Experience & Skills
Minimum of five years’ in ICT Business Analyst roles
Full project and System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experience.
Well-developed conflict resolution skills
An ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a range of employees across TCE
Well-developed interpersonal skills including an ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communications skills.
Mandatory Criteria
Minimum tertiary qualifications relevant to the position.
Qualifications or ability to gain qualifications in project management frameworks such as PRINCE2.
Intermediate to advance user of MS suite.
Current paid Working with Children Blue Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement, per No Card, No Link, No Start legislation)
Current driver’s licence
Willingness and capacity to travel within the Diocese, as required
Physically capable of performing the role safely
Desirable Criteria
ITIL4 Qualifications
Experience with Business Intelligence systems
Relevant industry experience in the education sector.
