Due to continued business growth and to meet increasing customer demand, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Your Key Duties and Responsibilities Will Include:
· Develop, plan, and implement traditional Indian menus including seasonal and dietary offerings.
· Estimate food costs and manage inventory control to minimize wastage and maintain profitability.
· Prepare, cook, and present meals to a high standard, ensuring portion control and presentation.
· Supervise kitchen activities and staff to ensure efficient operations during service periods.
· Coordinate food preparation with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely service.
· Ensure kitchen operations adhere to relevant food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
· Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance on food preparation, hygiene, and kitchen procedures.
· Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and performance managing kitchen team members.
· Implement food storage, preservation, and rotation practices to ensure freshness and compliance with standards.
· Monitor food quality and consistency, addressing any issues promptly.
· Liaise with suppliers, managers, and staff to coordinate ordering and delivery of food supplies.
· Engage with customers when needed to accommodate special dietary needs or preferences.
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience as a qualified chef, preferably in Indian cuisine.
Must hold a qualification equivalent to at least AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a higher-level qualification in culinary arts.
Sound knowledge of Indian spices, cooking methods, and regional flavours.
Knowledge of making Indian curries from Scratch.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Have a positive, proactive attitude.
