At Enliven Community, we believe people sharing supports should have genuine choice and control over their daily lives. Choice Collective Facilitators play a vital role in making this a reality. They work alongside groups of tenants in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and other shared living settings, helping them come together as a collective to shape how their supports are delivered. This role is about empowering people with disability to have a strong and independent voice, building trust, and ensuring participants feel safe, heard, and supported to make decisions that matter to them.

We created the Choice Collective model (previously called ‘Community Cooperative’) which we deliver as our core business. A Choice Collective (Collective) is a group of people who share a home, onsite support services, or both. They come together to increase their choice and control of the supports they share. This enables the group to raise common feedback to their providers, adapt services to their needs and preferences, communicate and document what quality services look like to them and make decisions about the supports that they share. The Choice Collective is supported by a Choice Collective Facilitator (Facilitator).

This is a new and innovative service, with choice and control at its core. The importance of this role was recognised by the recent NDIS Review, which recommended that all participants sharing supports should have access to a Facilitator.

We have a national presence of both staff and participants, with the head office being in Sydney. While a separate organisation, Enliven Community is part of the Enliven Group – a forward thinking, passionate group of organisations focused on safe, secure housing where tenant choice and control is central.

About the Role

We are excited to be growing our service and are seeking like-minded people who are passionate about choice and control for people with a disability to join our team. You will have skills in group facilitation, working with the disability community, and strong interpersonal skills.

You will join a team of existing Facilitators. You will be supported in your practice by a senior Facilitator (Team Leader), and in administration by a shared assistant. The role is a blend of face-to-face time with the Collectives, and desk time.

You will be the Lead Facilitator for up to 17 Choice Collectives in your region. Each Collective is scheduled to meet 4-8 times per year.

Specific Duties

Use facilitation skills to run Collective meetings, ensuring all attendees feel comfortable, understood, and heard. This includes clear communication, adaptability, and managing disputes where necessary.

Plan, deliver and follow up on all Choice Collective meetings, ensuring administration and logistics are managed efficiently so that participant decisions are implemented.

Adapt communication methods to participants’ needs and preferences, including use of communication aids and accessible formats.

Facilitate meetings using a standardised agenda, while tailoring to the group’s circumstances.

Foster participant safety by building trust and rapport, encouraging confidence to speak up, and supporting participants to raise and address concerns in a safe and appropriate way.

Ensure objectivity and active listening. Amplify the group’s voice without making decisions on their behalf, empowering participants to build confidence in self-advocacy.

Build constructive relationships with service providers as directed by Collectives, collaborating to achieve positive outcomes.

Support participants to change a provider when required.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, including the shared assistant, and report meaningfully to management.

Additional Opportunities
Beyond facilitation, you may contribute to shaping the future of the service – developing processes, creating tools and resources, and conducting co-design with participants and stakeholders.
