The opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic Sous Chef to join our talented culinary team at The River hotel/ Margaret River Resort in the stunning town of Margaret River, Western Australia. As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in running a busy restaurant kitchen, creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Key responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking.

Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency are maintained

Contribute to the development and implementation of new menu items and culinary concepts

Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, delegating tasks and providing guidance and feedback

Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations

Assist in stock control, order placement, and inventory management

What we're looking for

Formal culinary training or a recognised qualification in Hospitality or Culinary Arts

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards

Excellent time management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills

Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team

Passion for creating innovative, high-quality dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients
