Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sleep Scientist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team on a permanent part-time basis. In this role, you will play a key part in the investigation and management of sleep disorders, working closely with patients and healthcare professionals. Your responsibilities will include conducting in-centre and portable polysomnography, applying therapy devices, providing patient education, performing equipment maintenance, and supporting the general operation of the sleep service.

The Position
- Administrative duties as required for the smooth running of the sleep laboratory including patient data entry, maintenance of patient records and documentation.
- Perform quality assurance and maintenance procedures as well as monitor stock levels of consumables and order equipment as required.
- Patient billing including private, DVA, and Medicare.
- Provide ongoing training for existing and new staff members.
- Assess, evaluate and implement new equipment as required.
- Liaise with product representatives and participate in off-site training to develop product competency.
- Performance of diagnostic and treatment sleep studies both in Centre and using portable devices, including equipment calibration and patient setup.
- Overnight monitoring including maintaining signal quality, titration of PAP therapy including CPAP and NIV, oxygen titration and efficacy testing of other prescribed therapy devices.
- Conduct analysis of sleep studies and prepare reports for the Sleep Physician.
- Conduct trials of Positive Airways Pressure Therapy according to service protocols.
- Maintain a recall list for patient therapy review and conduct the review according to established service protocols.
- Ensure the care and safety of patients attending the sleep laboratory.
- Where required, perform respiratory function testing in the associated respiratory laboratory.
Position Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will hold a Bachelor's degree in Science, Psychology, or Nursing, with at least one year of experience working in a sleep laboratory. A strong understanding of human physiology and biology is essential to effectively support patient care and clinical processes.
You should be confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. A willingness to contribute to duties within the Respiratory Centre is important, as is the flexibility to visit various areas across the hospital relevant to this position.

- Salary: $85,508 to $120,255 pro rata, plus 12% superannuation
- Fixed term part time position, working 60.4 hours per fortnight, for up to 12 months
