The Opportunity: We are seeking motivated scientists at all career stages — from early-career graduates to experienced researchers — to join our team.
This role offers hands-on experience in a modern PC2 laboratory, contributing to a CRC-P innovation project that integrates AST, PCR, and ELISA workflows into a compact, automated diagnostic platform.
You will contribute to both routine diagnostic testing and cutting-edge R&D, developing skills across microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, and genomics.
Key Responsibilities
Perform microbial culture, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, PCR assays, and ELISA.
Develop, optimise, and validate high-throughput automated workflows.
Conduct molecular biology techniques including DNA extraction, library prep, and sequencing.
Maintain robotics platforms, laboratory equipment, and consumable supplies.
Record, analyse, and interpret data in compliance with ISO/NATA quality systems.
Collaborate with industry and academic partners nationally and internationally.
About You
Essential:
Degree in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, or related field; or relevant lab technician experience.
Strong technical laboratory skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of PC2 biosafety practices.
Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
Highly Regarded:
Experience in microbiology, immunology, or molecular biology (coursework, projects, or professional).
Knowledge of genomics workflows (NGS, bioinformatics).
Exposure to ISO/NATA-accredited environments.
