The Organisation
The Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia Limited (AHCSA) is the peak body representing Aboriginal community-controlled health and substance misuse services in South Australia at state and national levels.
Our primary role is to be the ‘health voice’ for all Aboriginal people in South Australia. We achieve this by advocating for the community and supporting workers through our Member Services with appropriate Aboriginal health programs based on a holistic perspective of health.
Summary of the Role
The Directorate Administration Officer, Public and Primary Health provides professional high-quality administrative assistance to the General Manager of Public Health and the General Manager of Primary Health and Directorate as a whole, contributing to the efficient and effective operation of AHCSA.
The Directorate Administration Officer, Public and Primary Health plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Directorate by providing comprehensive administrative support to staff, including coordinating meetings and other events, undertaking data collection and analysis, contributing to the creation and maintenance of key documents and assisting with other administration tasks.
The position serves as the first point of contact for Directorate enquiries, providing information and assistance to staff and external stakeholders. It collaborates with other administration officers supporting AHCSA Directorates and teams to enhance overall efficiency of the support provided across the organisation.
In addition to supporting the Public and Primary Health Directorate, the Directorate Administration Officer, Public and Primary Health also provides AHCSA’s reception service, serving as the first point of contact for all visitors to AHCSA, maintaining a welcoming and organised reception area, handling all general inbound phone and email requests and enquiries received by the organisation, and processing ingoing and outgoing mail.
Essential Experience
- Experience in an administrative or executive support role within an Aboriginal health care or community services setting.
- Experience participating in establishing and/or maintaining business systems, practices, processes, and procedures within an organisational context.
- Experience in event coordination and taking minutes and reporting on meeting outcomes for various groups.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, for various tasks.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in communicating with representatives at high levels of government and non-government organisations.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams within the health sector, collaborating with professionals from various disciplines.
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders, including government agencies and non-government organisations
- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, or other relevant post-secondary training and/or qualifications.

Special Conditions
- Out of normal hours work may be required.
- National Police Certificate is required.
