Salary: VPS 5.1 $113,022 - $124,884 pa + 12% superannuation

About the role:
Reporting to the Regional Manager, Western Metropolitan Melbourne Region, the Team Leader, Environment Protection leads and manages a small team responsible for delivering EPA's on-ground regulatory response in Western Metropolitan Melbourne Region, including education, compliance monitoring and inspections, and managing non-compliance via regulatory notices and enforcement action. You will plan, oversee and deliver front-line regulatory operations, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities, to prevent harms to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
This is a senior role for an experienced operational regulator that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. Working under broad direction from the Regional Manager, Western Metropolitan Melbourne Region, you will lead and manage a team through change, ensuring a positive organisational culture and that the highest standards of performance and integrity are achieved; and fostering genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to deliver organisational outcomes.
In this role you will:
- Lead and manage a team to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity; manage the allocation of resources, budgets, business and project planning and reporting; and demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive and diverse culture.
- Participate in the response to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative, policy and process obligations and requirements in the conduct of regulatory operations, leading a safety-first approach.
- Actively participate in the conduct of investigations (under the direction of Environmental Crime Branch); and the delivery of preventative projects and compliance programs aligned to EPA's regulatory priorities.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience and a record of achievement in a relevant leadership regulatory role (e.g. environmental regulation).
- Demonstrated experience and proven ability to lead a high performing team.
- Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
- Ability to think outside the square, a willingness to try new things and a genuine desire to learn, share knowledge and make a difference.
