About the role

Prospect Hill is seeking a practical, steady Participant Liaison Officer (PLO) to provide day-to-day support across two-three Supported Independent Living homes. This is a hands-on supervisory role that blends participant-focused administration with direct care, ensuring people receive consistent, safe, and respectful support.

You’ll be the reliable point of contact in the homes—coordinating appointments, keeping families and stakeholders in the loop, mentoring newer staff on the floor, and partnering with our Compliance and Operations teams to keep standards high.

You will report to the Chief of Operations (COO) and be backed by a roving management team, our Compliance Manager, and central admin (including Rostering).

What you’ll do

Participant support & admin

Provide direct care and support to people with a disability with all activities of daily living which may include domestic duties, personal care, behavioural and social support, medication assistance, manual handling, transport and meals

Arrange and accompany participants to health and community appointments

Keep clear participant notes, follow plans, and action day-to-day needs

Liaise promptly and professionally with families, guardians, and key stakeholders

Implement and regularly monitor individual support plans, behaviour supports, and risk management strategies

Ensure accurate and timely documentation including progress notes, incident reports, participant plans, and shift handovers

Team support & mentoring

Provide on-shift guidance and basic training to lower-classified staff using pre-prepared materials

Model safe, respectful practice and reinforce routines that work

Quality, safety & house compliance

Uphold compliance with NDIS and organisational standards across all service delivery areas

Conduct house compliance checks with the Compliance Manager

Complete OHS inspections and follow up actions

Escalate issues early and document accurately

Flexible time allocation

Balance admin and direct care according to participant needs across both homes

This role does not include

Rostering, staff disciplinary processes, payroll, or direct liaison with the NDIS/Commission

How you’ll be supported

Direct line to the COO with day-to-day supervisory support

Access to the Compliance Manager for standards and audits

Central admin support (e.g., rostering team) to remove barriers

Regular half-day sessions at Head Office for training, mentoring, problem-solving, and admin catch-up

About you

You’re dependable on the floor, clear in your communication, and calm under pressure

You take pride in tidy documentation and consistent follow-through

You enjoy coaching others and building positive, professional relationships with families and stakeholders

Essential

Experience in disability support (SIL preferred) and confidence mentoring junior staff

Strong organisational skills and comfort balancing admin with hands-on care

Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid/CPR, Driver Licence and well maintained registered vehicle with current Comprehensive Insurance

Unrestricted Australian work rights

Desirable

Certificate III/IV in Individual Support (Disability) or similar

Familiarity with NDIS Practice Standards, incident reporting, and OHS checks

Pay & Roster

SCHADS Level 3.1 + applicable allowances

Full-time Monday–Friday roster aligned to participant needs (house shift times such as 9am-5pm/6am–2pm)

Optional: one weekend shift per fortnight by agreement

No active nights or sleepovers
