About the Role
Our bookkeeping service clients are small to medium enterprise not-for-profit organisations across Australia (turnover $0.5m to $10m) in a range of fields such as: homelessness prevention; children’s education; new migrant and refugee services; Aboriginal organisations; disability; the arts; the environment and various other causes.
This role is based in Southern Tasmania (Greater Hobart / Kingborough / Huon Valley).
Some of your working days will be in the Tasmanian office (Kingston area), and some working-from-home. Two to three days per week will be spent in the Tasmanian office in the initial training phase and once you have settled into the role, the expectation is that you’ll spend one/two days in the office and the remainder working from home.
The position can be part time (0.6 FTE – 22.8 hours per week), or additional hours are available up to full time (38 hours per week).
The key focus of this role is to deliver payroll and other bookkeeping services on the Xero platform, to support our non-profit clients to be accurate and compliant.
This position requires some experience with payroll, as a good proportion of the role is carrying out the payroll function for our clients.
In this role you will support small to medium size not for profit organisations (Turnover $0.5M - $8M) with the following payroll and wider bookkeeping services:
Processing end to end payroll, including salary packaging, super, PAYG and Single Touch Payroll.
Full function Accounts Payable and Receivable.
Month end reconciliation of bank accounts and credit cards.
Prioritising work according to client requirements, operating under pressure to meet deadlines. Includes juggling work in an agile manner, according to changing circumstances.
Working closely with our Accountants & Senior Accountants to deliver services as required.
Salary
The salary range will be $75-85k FTE plus superannuation dependent on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
You will preferably have a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting.
Requirements
Essential:
We are seeking a candidate who:
Has previous payroll experience; and/or bookkeeping experience (including Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable)
Is accurate and efficient with processing tasks
Has experience working with Xero, including Xero payroll and bookkeeping
Is a quick learner when it comes to new technology
Has high level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with a diverse mix of colleagues and clients
Can undertake infrequent interstate travel as required, particularly to Sydney twice a year for development days
Desirable:
Has experience in the preparation of BAS, IAS, STP finalisation and superannuation
Experience within a consulting or practice environment
Experience in the application of employment Awards, in respect to carrying out payroll.
