About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts and Payroll Officer to join our Finance Team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is vital in maintaining financial accuracy through payroll reconciliation, superannuation compliance, and monthly bookkeeping functions. You will work closely with the Senior Accountant to ensure the seamless delivery of financial operations that support the ongoing success of our academic and support services.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts:
Assist the Senior Accountant in daily finance operations
Support month-end close, including processing accruals and verifying expense completeness
Calculate and record amortisation, depreciation, and prepayments
Assist departments in reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies
Payroll:
Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts (e.g. PAYG, superannuation payable, payroll clearing)
Maintain accurate superannuation records in the payroll system
Follow up on bounced superannuation payments to ensure timely resolution
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with superannuation obligations
General:
Provide ad hoc financial support as requested by management
Assist with continuous improvement of financial processes across the institution

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications in Accounting or equivalent experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and accruals
At least 2–3 years of experience in a similar finance role
Sound understanding of accounting principles and superannuation compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Experience entering journals and reconciling general ledger accounts
Skills & Competencies
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good understanding of payroll and superannuation legislation
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
A team player with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
