ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to an extremely high performing and influential Finance Manager, this Accounts Officer will support the delivery of major finance objectives as the organisation aims to continue its growth journey.

The purpose of this role is to assist the Finance Manager and broader finance function to develop and adopt the best financial practices to achieve the Company’s strategic objectives. In this highly autonomous and empowering role you will act as an “in-house” advisor on financial matters across Accounts Payable and general accounting. The ability to communicate effectively with non-finance minded people is going to be crucial for the success of this role. This is a critical role to assist in driving the business through its next period of growth and positioning the business as a leader in their industry whilst implementing best practice governance throughout the finance function.

The role is an exciting opportunity and requires someone with a passion for accounting along with a commercially sound mindset that is always looking to drive business performance. The main function of this role is to take ownership of and deliver proactive, efficient and insightful reporting. You will be required to prepare consistent and accurate financial reports, whilst continuously looking to improve financial controls and stewardship across the accounting function.

With a hybrid work model (up to 2 days from home), it suits a detail-oriented professional thriving in a dynamic, values-driven team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working in partnership with the finance team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements accurately and promptly, adhering to company Delegation of Authority (DoA) and policies.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including issuing invoices, following up on overdue payments, and reconciling customer / supplier accounts.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate coding and posting of transactions.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journals and reconciling accounts.
  • Answer and manage the main accounts/finance call line, addressing inquiries from internal and external stakeholders professionally and efficiently.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve financial queries.
  • Provide support during the annual audit process, preparing schedules and documentation for external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounts processes and enhance efficiency.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a full-function accounts role (accounts payable, receivable, or general ledger). Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Experience with data entry, focusing on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., MYOB Advanced, or similar).
