About the Corporation
Yinhawangka Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (“YAC”) is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate which is held in Trust for approximately 400 Yinhawangka people.
The Yinhawangka People are the native title claimants and traditional custodians of approximately one million hectares of land and waters that including a number of Rio Tinto mines and the town of Paraburdoo of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.
Job Overview
The Finance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations and accounting tasks of the Corporation. Working closely with the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer ensures that accurate, timely payroll processing, and compliant financial records are maintained to support the organisation’s financial integrity and decision-making.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Accounts Payable - management of end-to-end process ensuring appropriate purchase order, coding, approvals, reconciliation, and payment runs.
· Process weekly payments for casual surveys and meetings.
· Administer fortnightly payroll for 30+ employees and directors, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.
· Maintain accurate and complete payroll records for all staff.
· Record daily bank entries and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
· Maintain the fixed asset register within Xero, ensuring timely updates and accurate depreciation records.
· Assist with core finance functions including PAYG Withholding reporting, GST reconciliation, BAS preparation, and audit coordination as required by management.
· Provide support during the annual budget preparation process and other financial planning activities as required.
Qualifications and Skills
· Must have the legal right to work in Australia.
· Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
· Proficient in Xero, with a strong understanding of its features, functions, and processes.
· Skilled in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
· Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
