Based in France, GSDI is the European leader in Urban & Rail cosmetics.
For 30 years, we have been designing, producing, and implementing covering solutions in various industries:
Rail: We work with many European rolling stock manufacturers and railway operators on new equipment manufacturing, renovation, and maintenance projects.
Building: We provide products for large corporations (including hotels and restaurants, retail, and public sector) focused on real estate management, offering solar, decoration, and security solutions.
Marketing & events: We support clients such as airports, mass distribution, and entertainment companies with brand identity initiatives and specific campaigns.
The organisation has operations in four countries on two continents and is currently active in more than ten countries, with plans to extend its presence to additional regions.
The Opportunity
We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, results-driven Country Manager to lead our sales strategy across Australia. Based in Melbourne and reporting to the CEO based in France, this key leadership role offers a chance to shape our national business unit, develop a high-performing team, and foster strong relationships with local key stakeholders.
You will manage the company daily, representing GSDI on all legal aspects, growing the business, ensuring client satisfaction, communicating with partners/stakeholders on a regular basis, managing and evaluating the country team performance as well as the company P&L and budget compliance.
Key responsibilities
Plan, organise, direct and control overall activities.
Define the Country strategy and plan its execution in accordance with the Group strategy, under the direct supervision from the CEO.
Develop, implement and drive the sales strategy to achieve the company’s goals and objectives.
Determine optimal organisational structure to achieve business strategies and allocation of people resources and responsibilities within the division.
Motivate and develops staff.
Oversee operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and quality standards are met.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, managing legal issues, and ensuring the safety of employees and assets.
Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance, Quality management system etc.).
Manage P&L and ensure financial and profit objectives are met.
Significant presence on the shopfloor, leading “gemba”, given the strong “blue collar” dimension of GSDI missions.
About You
You are a strategic and proactive business developer with a hands-on approach and proven record in developing and managing new business.
You bring:
An Engineering or Business School degree or equivalent.
5+ years’ experience in complete profit center management of a significant size, with good finance skills, acquired in the B2B services sector in an industrial environment: engineering services, logistic services, Business Process Outsourcing services.
Alternatively, professional experience as managing an industrial P&L (plant or multi-site operations) in the railway sector, with commercial acumen, can also be considered.
Professional experience in a multinational environment is a must with an international mindset.
Customer management and commercial development experience with ability to understand clients’ needs.
Crisis/Change management experience.
People management appetite and experience, able to coach and engage teams.
Strategic thinker and a decision maker.
Self-propelled, entrepreneurial, pro-active, strong business development sense.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Continuous improvement and lean management.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong analytical and organisational skills.
