About the Role
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is looking for two proactive and detail-focused Compliance Support Officers to join the School Bus Services branch of the Transperth Systems, Regional Town and School Bus Services division. These are newly created, permanent full-time roles that will play a key part in supporting the safety, training, and quality assurance of School Bus Services across Western Australia. Reporting to the Compliance Coordinator, you’ll work as part of a committed team to uphold high safety and compliance standards across the network and ensure school transport services remain safe, efficient and well-managed.
Key responsibilities:
Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing management of safety and compliance audit programs to support contractor and service compliance.
Conduct and support incident investigations, risk assessments, and reviews of operational practices, ensuring recommendations are implemented and safety standards are upheld.
Provide input into the preparation of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental documentation, including contractor safety plans, emergency procedures and bulletins, ensuring alignment with legislation.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of training programs for internal staff and external school bus contractors, while supporting staff mentoring on compliance and quality requirements.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to communicate audit outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Relevant qualifications (minimum Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent) and knowledge in applying WHS legislation, safety management systems, and conducting audits in a contracting environment.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills.
Skilled in researching, analysing and applying legislation, policies, and standards to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
Proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Possession of a current West Australian ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ Class Drivers Licence or equivalent.
Must be willing to undertake extended travel to rural and remote areas of the state for the purpose of auditing, area and service reviews.

There are two permanent full-time opportunities available for an immediate start. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.
