The City of Fremantle possess a significant portfolio of assets, it manages, maintains and leases. As a result, we are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable Senior Commercial Property Officer.

Reporting to the Manager of Commercial Services, you will administer and coordinate the leasing, acquisition and disposal of the City’s property assets, including those on crown land and vested to the City. You will work in a team to maintain high occupancy rates by ensuring all lease documentation is legally compliant, conducting regular rent reviews, and negotiating agreements that reflect current market conditions.

You will also provide expert advice on leasing and land tenure matters to a variety of stakeholders whilst ensuring that decisions on leasing arrangements have a sound commercial and compliant outcome for the City.

Key responsibilities include:

Run the day to day management of the City’s property portfolio to ensure Lease obligations are met by both tenant and landlord.

Administer and coordinate the leasing, acquisition and disposal of the City’s property assets, including those vested to the City.

Maintain high occupancy rates, ensure relevant documentation is in place, and carry out regular rent reviews to ensure rents are in line with market conditions.

Provide supervision and guidance to the Tenancy Management Officer.

Provide accurate advice to internal service units in the areas of leasing, land tenure, acquisition and disposal of the City’s property assets.

To be considered for this position, you will need previous experience in the following:

Property management, leasing and/or contract management.

Preparing property, economic or commercial based research and analysis.

Financial and budget management.

Strong written communication skills including report writing and presentation of complex information to non-technical specialists.

Strong project management skills.

Good knowledge of retail and office property markets and related economic indicators.

Ability to liaise with external stakeholders and negotiate during difficult situations.

Sound understanding of the Commercial Tenancy (Retail Shops) Agreements Act 1985, the Land Administration Act 1997 and the Local Government Act 1995 or a capacity to develop a good understanding in a reasonable time frame.

Self-motivated and can work with limited supervision.
