Townsville Catholic Education is currently seeking an Administration Officer to support The Director of Workforce, Safety & Wellbeing. This role is a Full Time, Permanent position commencing Monday 22 September 2025.

About the role

The Administration Officer – Director Workforce, Safety and Wellbeing is responsible for providing efficient, accurate and high quality secretarial/administrative services to the Director Workforce, Safety and Well Being and the Student Protection team.

This role ensures the efficient coordination of services, manages communications with stakeholders and supports the operational and strategic functions of the directorate.

The position plays a vital role in maintaining accurate records and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Workforce, Safety and Wellbeing team.

Key Accountabilities

This role provides high-level administrative and executive support within the Workforce, Safety and Wellbeing Directorate, with a strong focus on coordination, communication, and confidentiality. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide executive and administrative support to senior leaders within the Workforce, Safety and Wellbeing and Student Protection teams.

Coordinate schedules, travel, events, and key internal and external communications.

Manage confidential correspondence, records, and reporting with a high level of discretion.

Support student protection processes, including logging and tracking of sensitive matters.

Act as secretariat for advisory committees, ensuring effective coordination and documentation.

Assist in organising staff training, wellbeing initiatives, and major TCEO events.

Collaborate across teams and contribute to a safe, professional, and values-driven workplace.

About you

Experience & Skills

We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive professional with the following:

Proven experience in administrative or executive support roles, working both independently and within a team.

Excellent time management, organisation, and multitasking skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to liaise confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.

High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Competence in managing electronic diaries, databases, and spreadsheets.

Flexibility and initiative to adapt to changing priorities.

Previous experience in an education or similar environment is desirable but not essential.

Mandatory Criteria

Current Working with Children Suitability Card or eligibility to obtain same *

Current Driver’s Licence

Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.

This role may involve reviewing and analysing potentially traumatic material. It is important that you consider if the advertised role is the right fit for you as exposure to this type of content may be an unavoidable part of the role. While TCE provides training, resources and support to help minimise vicarious trauma, applicants need to be resilient in nature and able to draw on individual self-care strategies and support networks to manage their wellbeing.

Desirable Criteria

Certificate IV in Business Administration is desirable, but not essential.

Previous experience in the education field would be considered advantageous.

Some employees may be subject to pre-employment medical assessments during the selection process. Depending on the nature of the position, it may be necessary for successful applicants to be immunised against certain preventable diseases in order to minimise the risk of transmission.
