About the role: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join our dedicated kitchen team. This is a full-time position requiring a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced café environment and takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality meals. You will play a key role in menu development, kitchen operations, and mentoring junior kitchen staff, all while ensuring that our high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation are maintained.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the owner to design and update seasonal menus and implement food costing strategies.

• Preparing and executing dishes with consistency and attention to detail.

• Upholding the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.

• Ensuring cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen.

• Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and minimizing food waste.

• Driving innovation by contributing new menu ideas and seasonal specials.

• Continuously refining recipes and improving culinary techniques.

• Mentoring and training new and existing kitchen staff to maintain team efficiency.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.

• Proven experience in kitchen management and menu creation.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cook/Chef in a professional kitchen.

• Strong knowledge of food preparation and hygiene standards.

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent culinary skills and attention to detail.

• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.

• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

• Flexibility to work across varied shifts including evenings and weekends.

• Commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Australian citizens and permanent residents are preferred.
