Project Manager – Urban Development

About the Company
Our client is a leading national civil contractor delivering large-scale urban development and infrastructure projects. Privately owned and financially strong, they are vertically integrated, with their own plant, survey, and engineering teams.
The business has a significant pipeline of land development and subdivision projects across South East Queensland and Northern NSW, supported by long-term developer partnerships and repeat clients. With steady growth and major project wins, they are now seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery within their Urban division.
The Opportunity
As a Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for managing subdivision and medium-density civil projects ranging from $5m to $20m in value. Working from one of the regional hub offices in South East Queensland, you’ll lead teams of Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and Supervisors, while liaising directly with clients, councils, and consultants.
This is a role for someone who thrives in a hands-on, self-performing contractor environment, with autonomy to run projects from tender through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of subdivision and urban civil projects, planning, execution, and close-out.
- Lead and mentor teams of engineers and supervisors across multiple project stages.
- Oversee budgets, forecasting, and cost control, ensuring projects are delivered to financial targets.
- Develop and manage construction programs, methodologies, and resources.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and in-house service teams.
- Maintain strong client, council, and consultant relationships through regular engagement and reporting.
- Ensure all works are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Contribute to pricing and estimating on upcoming tenders, working closely with the commercial team.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 6–10 years’ experience in civil construction, including proven success managing subdivision or land development projects.
- Strong financial management skills, budgets, forecasting, contract administration.
- Technical expertise in bulk earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities, and subdivision infrastructure.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple project stages.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Safety-first mindset with excellent organisational ability.
