On behalf of the Office of the Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia (OSECI), face2face Recruitment wants to hear from interested candidates.

This role is available across all states in Australia with hybrid/remote working arrangements. Part time work arrangements will also be considered. This is a fixed term contract for 24 months with potential for extension.

About the Organisation

The Office of the Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia (OSECI) plays a key role in supporting the Australian Government’s efforts to address and counter Islamophobia. It's work is focused on advancing community trust, promoting cultural responsiveness, and delivering targeted initiatives that challenge stereotypes and foster inclusion. By building community resilience and responding to Islamophobic incidents, OSECI provides vital input to policy, advocacy, and public engagement.

About the Job

The Senior Advisor will play a leading role in developing and implementing the strategic plans, policies, and communications of the Special Envoy. This is a high-impact, senior position that requires exceptional judgement, strategic thinking, and leadership across complex issues. You will oversee key projects, develop evidence-based policy solutions, establish partnerships across government and community sectors, and represent the Office in high-level forums, media, and public inquiries.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the design and delivery of strategic plans, communications, and engagement initiatives.

Overseeing major projects, monitoring frameworks, and evaluation systems to measure impact.

Establishing and managing partnerships with governments, industry, research organisations, and community stakeholders.

Providing evidence-based policy advice, submissions, reports, and briefings for senior leadership and government.

Representing the Office of the Special Envoy at senior-level meetings, parliamentary committees, and public forums.

Driving policy transformation, awareness campaigns, and initiatives that combat Islamophobia and build inclusion.

Managing budgets, resources, and teams to deliver outcomes effectively in a dynamic environment.

Required Skills and Experience

To be considered, you must:

Be an Australian citizen.

Hold or have the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance.

Essential qualifications and skills:

Relevant degree in business administration, public policy, sociology, political science, human rights, education, law, media and communications, religious studies, or a related field.

Demonstrated strategic thinking, judgement, and creative problem-solving.

Proven experience leading complex policy, reform, or program initiatives.

Experience managing budgets, teams, and key projects.

Strong background in stakeholder engagement with government, community, and media.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including representation at senior forums.

Desirable:

Specialist knowledge of Islamophobia, its causes and impacts.

Experience with parliamentary committees, policy advocacy, or strategic stakeholder engagement.

Prior experience working within Federal or State/Territory Government.

International networks or experience in human rights or anti-discrimination efforts
