Client: NSW Government - Energy Renewable sector
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: 30 January 2026
Hours: 7 hours/day | 35 hours/week
Rate: $600–$750/day + Super
About the Role
Seeking a highly experienced and detail-focused Senior Advisor – Boards & Committees to join the Governance team. This pivotal role supports the effective operation of governance framework by coordinating secretariat functions and enabling strategic alignment across our boards and committees. You'll play a key role in ensuring governance best practice, high-quality reporting, and streamlined decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the delivery of Secretariat functions for the boards and committees, ensuring clear governance, alignment of terms of reference, and efficient processes across the organisation.
- Manage the end-to-end secretariat support for board and committee meetings, including planning, preparation of agendas, collation of papers, minute-taking, reporting, and follow-ups.
- Lead the review, coordination, and approval of papers and materials to ensure consistency, accuracy, and high standards of governance.
- Conduct research and synthesize complex information to support informed decision-making.
- Deliver governance-related projects to support ongoing improvement and efficiency in committee operations.
Key Challenges
- Navigating a fast-paced, high-volume environment with competing deadlines and complex, often sensitive matters requiring sound judgement and attention to detail.
- Managing confidential information with discretion and professionalism while maintaining trust and organisational integrity.
- Supporting cross-functional alignment and governance across programs, ensuring accountability and effective decision-making frameworks.
About You
You’re an experienced governance or policy professional who thrives in complex environments. You have an eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and are passionate about driving high-quality governance outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
- Proven experience in governance, secretariat or advisory roles within a government or complex organisational context. (energy renewable sector a bonus)
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, board/committee operations, and high-level reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, high-quality agendas, minutes, and strategic briefings.
- Exceptional attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
