EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.

About the Opportunity

Our EnergyCo NSW Planning and Communities team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Planning and Policy Officer who will play an important role in supporting the attainment of key statutory planning approvals relating to the design and development of the REZs.

In this role, your day may involve assisting in the development and establishment of strategic planning initiatives; providing specialist advice in line with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979; undertake reviews and assessments and provide feedback and recommendations; or monitoring and evaluating all aspects of project implementation in order to achieve project outcomes. You will also engage with statutory consent authorities, referral agencies and other key external stakeholders, as necessary, to ensure successful delivery of the REZs and associated projects in regional NSW communities.

This is a dynamic role that sits within a relatively new team. The work itself will adapt and change over time in line with projects that we work on.

About You

Are you someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, can think on your feet, and confidently adjust to shifting priorities? Do you bring demonstrated experience securing planning approvals for high-value infrastructure projects, with strong knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, land use and environmental planning legislation in NSW, or linear infrastructure delivery? Are you a natural collaborator who excels at building strategic relationships with statutory consent authorities, NSW government agencies and other stakeholders, while managing projects and policy in line with contemporary government priorities and community expectations? If this sounds like you… apply today!

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in the fields of planning, environmental studies, law, linear infrastructure development, renewable energy generation and/or other relevant discipline
  • Current Australian Drivers licence (Class C minimum) and willingness to travel
