About the role

This senior role leads CHeReL’s service delivery to the research and government sectors. As part of the Senior Management team, you'll oversee high-profile, cross-government and national data linkage initiatives.

You’ll coordinate complex legal, policy and technical advice across NSW Health.

The role involves direct engagement with the Director, project committees and key stakeholders. You’ll drive the implementation of CHeReL’s service delivery framework and ensure successful delivery of priority projects. Collaboration with NSW Government, researchers, and Commonwealth partners is central to this impactful position.

Health Manager level 5, starting salary from $166,678 - $186,448 plus Super, with a 40-hour work week.

What you will do

  • implement longer term data governance, data management and linkage improvement initiatives and
  • create capacity for value adding activities to enable more efficient delivery of linked data to clients
  • Develop and lead a program of work to
  • Deputise for the Director and provide expert advice on the agreements relating to the role of the CHeReL in national initiatives for population health data linkage, and the use and disclosure of data with external data custodians, including NSW government agencies, other state and territory government agencies, Commonwealth agencies, universities and independent research institutes.
  • Develop and implement appropriate policies and protocols to ensure that the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by the CHeReL complies with relevant legislation and ethical approvals, and ensure the confidentiality of personal information in all respects.
  • Communicate and promote the work of the CHeReL through expert briefings, reports, and publications, and delivering presentations at conferences, workshops and other events.
  • Provide leadership and support the Branch Senior Management in the development, implementation and reporting of the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence strategic plan and annual business plans, and ensure agreed performance targets, milestones and deliverables are achieved.

About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated understanding of the data analytics environment, and health and medical research environment in NSW and Australia, particularly with respect to population health data.
  • High-level leadership skills and a strategic orientation, with capacity to set and manage priorities.
  • High-level specialist understanding of data governance, the data linkage environment, data linkage methodology and the use of linked data for health research and evaluating health services and programs.
  • High level understanding of legal, ethical and privacy issues relating to the collection, use and disclosure of linked data for research and evaluation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
