The Role

Are you a communications professional with a passion for science and storytelling? Want to help shape the future of Australian astronomy? AAL is looking for a dynamic Communications Manager to lead our communications strategy, amplify our impact, and connect with stakeholders across government and academia to demonstrate the benefits of investment into astronomy to the Australian public.

While the role will be based at one of AAL’s three offices in Melbourne, Canberra or Sydney, there is the flexibility to work from home too. You will frequently interact with staff and key stakeholders online as part of your daily activities in this role.

We are open to full-time or part-time applicants.

What You'll Do

Lead and implement AAL’s communications strategy

Manage our online presence and create compelling content

Support high-level stakeholder engagement, including with government and international partners

Produce key documents like our Annual Report and media releases

Champion our brand and voice across all platforms

What You Bring

Experience communicating complex scientific or technical ideas

Mastery of social media and digital channels

Exceptional writing and storytelling skills

A collaborative spirit and strategic mindset

A degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline such as Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing

An understanding of the media and ideally, previous experience working with government or a peak body

Remuneration

The remuneration package will be in the range of $130,000 - $150,000 p.a. pro-rata, plus employer superannuation contributions of 12%, plus salary packaging options.
