Suicide Prevention Australia is the national peak body for the suicide prevention sector. Members are at the heart of everything we do. We collaborate with our members, organisations, governments, businesses, researchers, practitioners, and those with lived experience to reduce suicide rates in Australia. We support our members to drive collaboration, advocate for improved policies, and educate the public on suicide prevention.
The Role
As the Communication Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of our communications strategy, driving engagement with our members, and reinforcing our value proposition. You will develop multi-faceted marcomms strategies, lead associated campaigns and activities, and create high-quality content tailored to a wide range of stakeholders, including our members, researchers, practitioners and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
Tailor and target communications to effectively engage different audiences, ensuring the right messages reach the right people.
Develop and implement multi-faceted marcomms strategies and craft compelling content for a broad range of channels.
Collaborate with other teams to drive engagement, support key campaigns and events (including our annual National Suicide Prevention Conference), and secure funding.
Create, collate and distribute eDMs and other digital communications, including monthly member briefs, event alerts, invitations and social media campaigns.
Work with the membership team to find ways to amplify our members activities and resources.
Lead and monitor SPA’s social media strategy and content schedule to grow our channels and drive engagement.
Manage the SPA website, ensuring it serves as a key resource for members and the public, with content designed to meet the needs of different audience groups.
Support internal communications and activities to create a safe and happy work culture.
About You
You are an experienced communicator who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You possess excellent writing skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your creativity and strategic thinking will help elevate the impact of Suicide Prevention Australia’s communications and member engagement efforts.
Experience, capabilities and personal attributes:
Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an aptitude for creating compelling content that engages diverse audiences.
Proven experience developing, implementing and evaluating marcomms strategies.
Proficient at managing social media platforms, websites and digital marketing campaigns.
Exceptional project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver high quality results within tight timeframes.
Ability to work independently as well as in a close, collaborative team environment.
Desirable
Ability to shoot and edit video.
Experience managing and briefing external contractors and creative agencies. For example, designers and videographers.
