Contract Auditor - Large Government Department

Undertake audit and verification activities in relation to contractor performance under the maintenance contract, including reviewing contractor policies, procedures, records, and systems in order to appraise the effectiveness by which the contractors meet their obligations under the maintenance contract.

• Duration:- Initial contract to 23/12/2025 + likely extension
• Rate:- $68 - $75.55 per hour
• Parramatta Location + WFH (hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake risk assessments and develops annual internal audit plans; performs and leads audits/ special reviews.
• Identify, allocate and perform tasks, coordinate/monitor work, controls audit/assignment resources, consolidate results, and other project duties.
• Plan and execute audit assignments, both within the department and contractors, in accordance with the Corporation’s requirements, best practice and the annual audit plan, as per the Performance Management Framework of the contract.
• Coach staff throughout the audit/review with the view to ensuring conformity with applicable policy and procedures in all phases of the audit process.
• Document, evaluate and test manual and automated systems and controls to determine their existence, adequacy, effectiveness and continuity ensuring: the effectiveness and efficiency of operations (including accomplishment of management objectives); compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, policies and procedures; reliability and integrity of information; and safeguarding of assets.
• Prepare working papers for review by the Senior Auditor; develop and discuss findings, recommendations and time lines for corrective action with responsible officer of operations audited and monitor the implementation status of agreed recommendations.
• Make presentations of audit results to management, either of department or of the audited contractor.
• Monitor the status of audit recommendations and appraise the adequacy of follow-up actions taken on audit findings and recommendations.

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (Accounting, Commerce or Business)
• 2. 5 years audit experience (preferably in building and maintenance projects but not essential)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills with ability to deal with stakeholders.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
