About the role

We are looking for a motivated chef to join our growing kitchen team at Lagotto. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who would like to take the next step up in their career. If you have experience in a CDP role or higher, have a passion for seasonal produce and a creative drive, then we would love to hear from you!

Lagotto is located in Fitzroy North and is both a vibrant neighbourhood and destination venue. Three consecutive years of chefs hats highlight the quality of our modern Italian offer, where traditional roots are mixed with creative ideas.

What you'll be doing

Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and implement innovative menu items

Ensure consistent food quality, presentation and efficient service

Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment in the kitchen

Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards

Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies

Provide mentorship and training to junior kitchen staff

Contribute to the overall success and positive reputation of the restaurant

Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef

What we're looking for

Experience in a kitchen management role such as CDP, Junior Sous or Sous Chef in hatted or high quality restaurant settings

Pasta making skills are preferred, but not essential

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, food safety and kitchen operations

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistently high-quality dishes

Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create delicious, innovative meals

Well organised, self motivated, with a focus on working accurately with precision.

Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the kitchen and front-of-house teams

Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred
