Who We Are
The Sporting Club Hotel has quickly become a favourite local since opening nearly two years ago. We’re a true community meeting spot, a place for good food, a pint with mates, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. As we expand our food offering and grow our operation, we’re building out our leadership team to support the next stage of our journey.

The Role
We’re looking for a full-time Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. Working alongside our Executive Chef, Head Chef, and two other Sous Chefs, you’ll play a central role in running a busy kitchen and helping shape our seasonal menus. This is a hands-on role where your leadership and technical skills will make a real difference – both to the food on the plate and to the team behind it.

What You’ll Do

Lead daily kitchen operations with the Head Chef, from prep to pack-down

Support menu development and seasonal changes, ensuring consistent quality and presentation

Oversee stock ordering, cost control, and portion management

Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and compliance with HACCP guidelines

Mentor, train, and roster staff, creating a positive and supportive team culture

Step up when required to deputise for the Head Chef

Work closely with front-of-house to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction

About You

A qualified chef with at least 3 years’ experience in a senior kitchen role

Confident in leading and motivating a team in a fast-paced environment in a professional and respectful manner

Knowledgeable in stock control, cost management, and food safety practices

Calm under pressure with strong organisational skills

Passionate about food, seasonal produce, and delivering consistent quality

Comfortable with kitchen systems and basic tech (Excel, ordering systems, rostering tools)
