Assistant Accountant or Book Keeper – Full-time

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 package (based on experience)

MPES Group Aust Pty Ltd is a respected electrical subcontractor delivering high-quality commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects across NSW. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Book Keeper or Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance team at our Smithfield office.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role supports the financial operations of multiple entities, focusing on accurate data processing, compliance, and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

· Process supplier invoices, employee reimbursements, and credit card transactions.

· All aspects of Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable

· Assist with keeping records across multiple entities.

· Maintain customer records and generate outgoing invoices.

· Record daily/weekly bank transactions and perform reconciliations.

· Assist with Payroll - end to end

· Ensure compliance with awards and Fair Work regulations.

· Assist with month-end and year-end reporting, P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations.

· Support BAS, PAYG, FBT and payroll tax reporting and month-end close procedures

· Contribute to financial statement preparation, budgeting, and audit support

. Provide general business and administrative support as required

. Answering phones to assist with all aspects of customer service.

What We're Looking For

· 3 + years' Bookkeeping / assistance accountant experience

· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

· Experience with MYOB, Xero, or similar accounting systems.

· Strong attention to detail and time management.

· Clear communicator with both written and verbal skills.

· Organised and reliable, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

· Proven payroll, invoice processing and payment-control expertise.
