The Shire of Mundaring is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Economic Development and Place Planner to join its dedicated Community Planning Team.

This role is central to the Shire's commitment to cultivating a thriving economic landscape that harmonises with its natural beauty and strong community spirit. The Economic Development and Place Planner will be instrumental in implementing initiatives that support a prosperous economy and place planning in townsites, ensuring long-term benefits for all within the Shire.

Key responsibilities

build strong relationships with businesses, industry group, government agencies and community stakeholders

identify opportunities and implement strategies to attract sustainable investment and support local businesses to prosper

prepare and deliver Place Plans that reflect community aspirations and local character

coordinate the delivery of place activation initiatives such as events, and public realm improvements to encourage economic and social activity

secure and manage funding and resources to deliver economic development and place initiatives

What we are looking for

excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills

strong project management skills and the ability to deliver strategic initiatives.

research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to inform decisions

sound knowledge of economic development, business principles, and relevant legislation

relevant qualifications and experience in a similar role, plus a current WA Driver’s Licence
