As a Leading Hand Carpenter in the insurance building industry, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing carpentry projects associated with insurance repairs and rebuilds. This role demands expertise in residential and commercial restoration, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of the unique requirements of insurance claims and restoration processes.
You’ll lead a team of carpenters, ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards, and ensure compliance with insurance guidelines and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and supervise a team of carpenters/ apprentices on insurance repair and restoration projects
Work closely with project managers and clients to ensure smooth project progression
Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to team members in executing carpentry work (framing, installation, and finish carpentry)
Interpret building plans, damage reports, and insurance scope of work to deliver accurate and high-quality repairs
Manage carpentry tasks related to water, fire, storm damage, and other property loss events
Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet client and insurance standards
Maintain a safe and organized worksite, adhering to all relevant safety protocols and regulations
Train and mentor apprentices and junior carpenters in insurance restoration practices
Oversee material and tool management to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Communicate effectively with clients and insurance reps to address concerns and provide progress updates
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience as a Carpenter, with at least 5 years experience post carpentry qualification
Experience in framing, finishing, and other carpentry techniques relevant to restoration work is essential
Ability to read building plans, damage assessments, and insurance scopes
Excellent leadership and team coordination skills
Knowledge of workplace safety practices, with a focus on the unique demands of restoration projects
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Current driver’s license and reliable transportation with adequate material carrying ability is essential.
Certificate 3 in Carpentry is essential for this role.
