Design & Build are seeking a Leading Hand Carpenter to join a high-end residential builder based in Melbourne’s South Eastern Suburbs. Our client has been established for over 5 years, delivering bespoke residential new builds, renovations, and extensions valued up to $6m. With a strong pipeline of projects currently underway and more due to begin, they are looking to expand their team.

They are looking for a Leading Hand who is skilled in carpentry and happy to be on the tools while assisting the Site Manager to ensure the day-to-day operations run smoothly. The company is currently in a growth phase as they expand their presence in the market, making it an exciting time to join!

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in leading in-house carpenters and subcontractors across multiple sites
• Planning daily and weekly tasks, allocating work, and monitoring progress
• Ordering and coordinating materials, tools, and equipment deliveries
• Maintaining site safety, compliance, and cleanliness
• Liaising with suppliers and the internal team
• Representing the builder professionally to clients, consultants, and trades
• Contributing on the tools as required to support your team and drive progress

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience across high-end/custom residential projects
• A proven ability to lead and motivate a team
• A strong understanding of construction sequencing, premium finishes, and site logistics
• The ability to manage multiple moving parts while maintaining quality and control
