What You’ll Do
As a key member of our team, you will:
Provide essential legal administrative support to solicitors in family law and children’s law matters.
Manage and maintain client files, records, and court documents, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Communicate with clients with empathy and professionalism, both over the phone and via email.
Organise calendars, conferences, and court dates, helping our team stay on top of busy schedules.
Draft correspondence, prepare legal bundles, collate and index documents, and liaise with counsel and stakeholders.
Handle reception duties including answering calls, greeting clients, and assisting with enquiries.
Assist with basic invoicing and billing tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Support the smooth running of the office, including liaising with solicitors and contributing to day-to-day administration.
What You’ll Do
You’re someone who is looking for more than “just a job” — you want to be part of a firm where your work matters, your team values you, and you’re encouraged to grow. Ideally, you bring:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary or Administration Officer in the area of Family Law (experience in Children’s Law will be highly regarded).
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Adobe, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom), along with legal practice software (experience with Actionstep is an advantage, but training is provided).
Strong organisational and time management skills – able to juggle competing priorities with ease, including managing court diaries and solicitors’ appointments.
Confidence in drafting correspondence, including emails, letters, and legal documents, as well as preparing court and client files and liaising with clients, solicitors, and courts.
Basic invoicing and billing knowledge, with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
Reception and phone skills – confident in answering calls warmly and professionally, assisting clients with empathy, and managing enquiries efficiently.
A proactive mindset – someone who takes initiative and works well both independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with the Family Law system and court processes (some knowledge of the Children’s Court is desirable but not essential if you’re willing to learn).
Excellent communication skills with a professional and empathetic approach to client service.
