HR Manager - Ecommerce/Retail
Unrivalled
Posted 8 days ago
Open to full-time, part-time, or condensed hours
You won’t see roles like this pop up often.
It’s a newly created position inside a founder-led ecommerce brand that’s going places—and not just metaphorically. They’re expanding across Australia, heading into the US and Europe, and building the kind of team that can scale with them.
Right now, they’re about 30–40 people, doing serious revenue, and have built everything so far without a dedicated HR lead. That’s worked, just, but it’s not sustainable. They need someone sharp, trusted, and organised to step in and build proper structure around people and culture.
This isn’t a corporate HR function where you’ll spend your days rewriting policies that no one reads. It’s hands-on, close to the action, and your voice will carry weight from day one. You’ll sit in leadership meetings, keep things (and people) on track, and be part of decisions that shape the business.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Owning the HR platform (Employment Hero) and managing it properly - contracts, check-ins, performance reviews, documentation, the lot.
Rebuilding policies and procedures that were set up when the team was half the size - some work, some don’t, some don’t even exist yet.
Designing and running onboarding processes that are role-specific, well-documented, and scalable.
Sitting in senior leadership meetings, taking notes, tracking actions, and following up. You’ll become the person who holds everyone accountable - including the founders.
Supporting EA-level tasks like booking travel, managing calendars, and fielding day-to-day admin that helps the founders stay focused on growth.
Keeping the wheels turning - that might mean checking supplies, sorting logistics, or helping coordinate the office. You won’t be above doing what needs doing.
This is a true generalist role - but with HR at the heart of it. As the business grows, the HR side will take more of your time, and the EA side will likely fall away or be handed off. The team knows they need someone who can operate at a high level but isn’t precious about the smaller stuff.
Who this would suit
You might be a solid HR Manager who’s stepped away from full-time work and wants a flexible return. You might be earlier in your HR career, ready for a big, wide role in a business where you can grow.
But whoever you are, you’ll need to be:
Trusted. You’ll be in the room for big conversations and hold sensitive information.
Practical. There’s no ivory tower here - you’ll be building as you go.
Organised. You’ll be the one who remembers, follows up, and makes it happen.
Culturally aligned. This team is ambitious, collaborative, and has no time for ego.
PLEASE READ
The setup is genuinely flexible:
Open to full-time, part-time, or condensed hours
You could work full time 5 days a week, 3 full days, 5 shorter ones, or something in between
Salary sits around $90K–$130K
That could be pro rata for part-time, or
Paid across 3 days/week if you’re more senior and hands-on
