The Role
Join the Regulatory Services Branch as our Community Safety Officer where you will be immersed in a range of rewarding tasks to meet the needs of our community. Key activities involve the coordination, implementation and evaluation of community safety and crime prevention initiatives, including the safety of children, seniors, and vulnerable persons. The role involves liaising with external government agencies and community members in response to community programs and concerns, as well as coordinating emergency preparedness and response plans. This opportunity is offered on a temporary part-time 12-month maternity leave cover (46 hours per fortnight).
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will mirror the Town’s values of Friendly and helpful, Teamwork, Creativity, Integrity, and Respect, and be able to demonstrate the following:
Sound knowledge and experience in the development, coordination and implementation of community safety and emergency preparedness/response programs and strategies.
Experience in contract management, and the preparation, review and implementation of multi-agency agreements, Memorandums of Understanding and contracts.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with internal and key external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes and shared goals.
Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently to deliver timely outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing reports for broad scope audiences and the facilitation/coordination of group activities.
Qualification(s) relevant to community safety, emergency management or a related field (desirable).
