About the position
The Water and Wastewater Supervisor leads a team of Water and Wastewater Operators in the professional and diligent performance of duties related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of Council’s water and wastewater infrastructure, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, reservoirs, and pumping stations. The Water and Wastewater Supervisor ensures compliance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and relevant legislation and regulations and assists the Water and Wastewater Coordinator in coordinating resources in a proactive, cost-effective, and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
Perform rostered on-call duties, organising and coordinating resources to make repairs with minimal disruption to services.
Ensure WHS compliance, including task- and site-specific risk assessments, inductions, toolbox meetings, and maintaining safety documentation.
Report and investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, assisting the Water and Wastewater Coordinator to provide findings and recommendations in line with hazard control measures.
Operate and maintain treatment plants, reservoirs, and pumping stations; monitor processes, respond to issues, conduct testing, and maintain operational logbooks in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Identify and supervise maintenance, implementing planned activities to reduce breakdowns, and assisting with quotes, procurement, and continuity of operations.
- Supervise, lead and coach the Water and Wastewater Operators and Trainees to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time in line with operational programs, including daily timesheets.

About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Water and Wastewater operations and/or extensive experience in management of water and wastewater systems in a local government environment.
- Relevant water industry licences and tickets including but not limited to; General Induction for Construction work - “White Card”, Confined Space, and Chemical Certificates.
- Sound knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facilities and principles of water treatment process.
- High level of problem solving and knowledge of principles of reactive and proactive maintenance activities.
- Demonstrated basic competence in SCADA and computer operations including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Current class C Driver Licence.

- Salary from $82,746 to $84,765 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
