As the Supervisor of Fleet Plant and Equipment, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of Council-owned Fleet, Plant, and Equipment (FPE). Your primary responsibilities will include administering the maintenance of approximately 1500 FPE items, developing and implementing robust maintenance management systems and enhancing preventive maintenance programs.
Additionally, you will ensure regulatory compliance and oversee major repairs, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of the Council's diverse fleet.
About the role:
- Supervises fleet and plant maintenance technicians, small plant mechanics, and apprentice technicians in a workshop environment
- Provides maintenance and repair services to all Council’s diverse FPE
- Plans routine activities and provide responsive breakdown repair services to minimize plant downtime
- Be available for after-hours on-call duties to carry out and/or coordinate emergency repairs
- Provides relief during periods of absence of the Plant and Materials Coordinator.

We are seeking:
- Diploma Mechanical Engineering or substantial relevant experience and Trade qualification or Diploma in Automotive Engineering
- Knowledge and experience in a Fleet, Plant, and Equipment (FPE) workshop environment and light fleet and outdoor power equipment maintenance
- Experience to evaluate resources for major repairs and regular maintenance procedures
- Understanding of Fleet Management software and Microsoft Office
- Current Medium Rigid (MR) Driver’s Licence.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
