About the role

Council is seeking a qualified and motivated Development Engineer to join our high-performing Development Assessment Services team.

This is your opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of our vibrant, leafy municipality through expert engineering advice and innovative problem-solving.

Reporting to the Team Leader Development Engineer, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Assessing and preparing recommendations for development and subdivision applications
• Preparing technical reports on engineering matters related to applications and construction certificates
• Reviewing and monitoring stormwater, traffic, subdivision and civil works
• Providing advice and guidance on Development Control Plans
• Supporting Council in Land and Environment Court hearings, including expert witness reporting
• Providing high quality technical advice to the public
• Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Council policies, and best-practice principles

Qualifications, Skills & experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with development engineering matters
• Sound knowledge of development assessment processes including stormwater management, traffic and civil/subdivision works
• Understanding of local government and environmental legislation
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• A current Class C driver’s licence
