Role Details:

Talent International, a leading Australian recruitment firm, have been engaged by our long-standing client, a leading services company based in Rhodes, to help secure an experienced ICT Systems Engineer.

Reporting into a highly collaborative and forward-thinking IT Manager , you'll join a lean but skilled team of three - yourself and two Service Desk staff - and take ownership across both on-prem and cloud environments. The role will focus heavily on Azure Cloud optimisation and implementation for the first 3-6 months, while also supporting broader ICT operations, projects, and service improvement initiatives.

This is a hands-on, solutions-focused position suited to someone with a strong technical background and a can-do attitude - someone who can offer ideas, think proactively, and help take the environment to the next level. The environment supports over 500 users (ideally thousands), and you'll be part of an open, improvement-oriented culture with no micromanagement - but also no lone rangers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provisioning, installing, configuring, and maintaining ICT systems (cloud + on-prem).
• Monitor daily system health, logs, backups, and scheduled jobs.
• Support and mentor Service Desk team on escalated issues.
• Lead cloud implementation and cost optimisation projects (Azure).
• Maintain and patch Windows Servers, network devices, firewalls, etc.
• Monitor security events and contribute to incident response/forensics.
• Collaborate with the wider business to enhance service delivery.
• Research and recommend technologies to improve system performance and reliability.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Occasionally travel to sites (airports, universities, shopping centres across NSW) for hardware setups - must have driver's license + own car.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 3-5+ years of hands-on ICT experience in an enterprise environment.
• Strong Azure Cloud and M365 administration skills.
• Windows Server (2016+), Exchange, Entra ID, VMware, Nutanix, and Linux knowledge.
• Solid PowerShell scripting experience.
• Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VPN, routing, DNS).
• Experience with security tools (Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Trend Micro) - nice to have.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to manage authentication servers, on-prem environments, and SharePoint migration.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes (100% essential).
• Previous exposure to environments supporting 500+ users.
• Must have full Australian working rights
