Business Development Consultant

The Ella Centre is a Not-for-Profit organisation located in Haberfield and auspiced by the Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (NSW Synod). It provides a range of valuable community services to those living in the Inner West who are frail aged, have dementia or a disability. Services include group based aged care, disability day programs support coordination and social support.

About the role:

Fixed Term Contract (3 months - 20 hours per week)

This role has been established to assess the opportunity for achieving step-change growth in participant numbers. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting market research, stakeholder consultations, and feasibility assessments to determine how the organisation can significantly increase participant engagement — particularly in the Inner West and surrounding areas.

The key outcome will be a comprehensive, evidence-based business development plan. This plan will provide strategic guidance on growth opportunities and include recommendations for implementation beyond the initial 3-month term, with the potential for continued involvement in executing the plan if approved.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

1. Market Analysis

Identify and profile potential participant pools within the Inner West and surrounding regions.

Assess local demand, demographic trends, and existing service provision.

2. Feasibility Assessment

Evaluate the ease, cost-effectiveness, and viability of targeting identified participant pools.

3. Stakeholder Consultation

Engage internal teams, community organisations, and service users to gather input and build support for proposed strategies.

4. Strategy Development

Develop a practical, evidence-based business development plan to guide step-change growth in participant numbers.

Ensure the plan aligns with the organisation’s broader strategic and operational objectives.

5. Final Report

Deliver a comprehensive report that includes:

Market and stakeholder insights

Recommended strategies and approaches

Recommendations for post-3-month activity, including:

Opportunities for further development

Required resourcing and potential timelines

Proposal for executing the business development plan, which may include continued involvement of the role

What We’re Looking For:

Strong experience in market analysis, business development, or community engagement

Demonstrated ability to create and implement growth or expansion strategies

Knowledge of the NDIS sector and disability services (Essential)

Knowledge of NDIS services operating in the Inner West (strongly desirable)

Proven ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders including community members, program participants, and management

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation of findings

Highly self-directed with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
