About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and caring Meals on Wheels Officer to join our community services team. This important role involves the safe packing, storage, and delivery of nutritious meals to vulnerable members of our community. You will also provide a friendly welfare check during deliveries, helping clients maintain their independence and wellbeing.
This role includes working in cold storage and freezer environments as part of meal preparation and handling. If you are punctual, have a genuine interest in supporting older people and those in need, and can work both independently and as part of a team, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
· Receive, pack, and deliver meals to clients respectfully and on time.
· Conduct welfare checks during deliveries and report any concerns.
· Work in cold storage and freezer conditions as part of meal packing and storage duties.
· Monitor frozen meals expiration dates, food safety compliance and temperature logs.
· Maintain accurate records and share updates with Home Care staff.
· Support volunteers and step in when needed to ensure delivery continuity.
· Carry out regular cleaning of equipment, work areas, and storage facilities.
· Uphold confidentiality, hygiene standards, and professional conduct.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
· Ability to work in cold/freezer conditions.
· Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
· Ability to safely lift and carry equipment and meals.
· Current Police Check.
· Influenza vaccination.
Current First Aid Certificate.
Desirable:
· Previous experience in community services, aged care, or food delivery roles.
Certificate III in Individual Support, Community Services, Hospitality or similar.
Food Handling Certificate.
Conditions of Employment:
21 Hours Per Week – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 7.30-3pm
Attractive hourly rate of $35.19 plus relevant allowances.
Generous travel reimbursements will be provided if using personal vehicle.
