Operations & Projects Officer – Level 5
Bathurst Meals on Wheels
Make a difference with purpose.
Bathurst Meals on Wheels is a trusted, community-focused organisation delivering nutritious meals and support to older people and people with disabilities across Bathurst and beyond. We’re seeking a proactive and capable Operations & Projects Officer to work closely with our General Manager.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your coordination and problem-solving skills in a role where no two days are the same. You’ll provide operational and administrative support, assist with projects, and help prepare information that drives our decision-making. This role allows you to work with purpose, knowing your efforts have a direct impact on the people we serve.
What you’ll do:
Be the first point of contact for routine queries, resolving within existing procedures and escalating as needed.
Manage and triage the General Manager’s inbox, ensuring priorities are actioned quickly.
Assist with the coordination of projects such as menu updates, ordering workflows, and operational improvements.
Prepare documentation and gather information for audits, compliance checks, and board reporting.
Support smooth day-to-day operations in the General Manager’s absence, within existing policies.
What we’re looking for:
Highly organised and proactive, able to anticipate needs and take initiative.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a solution-focused mindset.
Calm under pressure, capable of managing multiple priorities with ease.
Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment, able to work effectively with staff, clients, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Exceptional triage skills, determining urgency and importance across competing tasks.
Digitally capable, confident with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ideally MYOB or similar systems.
Right to work in Australia and ability to pass relevant background checks (including a National Police Check).
Current Australian driver’s licence and access to reliable transport.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an administrative or operational support role (or equivalent transferable experience).
Advantages:
Experience in not-for-profit, community services, aged care, or health sectors.
Project coordination or operational support experience in a busy, multi-faceted environment.
Familiarity with compliance preparation, audits, or reporting processes.
Knowledge of basic HR admin, or policy/documentation processes.
Why join us?
Work for an organisation with heart, making a tangible difference in our community.
Salary packaging available to increase your take-home pay.
Great work-life balance: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexible start and finish times between 7:00am–3:00pm, set by mutual agreement).
A supportive, collaborative team environment where your contributions are valued.
Opportunities for growth and skill development within a respected community organisation.
Access to the Community Services Portable Long Service Leave scheme, which allows you to carry your service across the community sector and receive an additional year of service credited as a Foundation Bonus under the new program commencing in 2025 (long service leave becomes payable after meeting the qualifying period).
