Union College is evolving, and we’re looking for an Accounts and Payroll Officer who brings warmth, precision, and a love of numbers to our finance team.
This is a role for someone who enjoys the rhythm of reconciliation, the satisfaction of clean data, and the human side of finance. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the College while helping ensure our systems run smoothly and our people feel supported.
About the Role:
This is a bookkeeping-focused position with a payroll component. You’ll be responsible for accounts payable, receivables, credit card and bank reconciliations, and assisting with end-of-month processes. You’ll also help process payroll.
You’ll be supporting budget holders with actuals and ensuring financial data is accurate and timely. You’ll also be a friendly face in the office; someone residents and staff feel comfortable approaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable and supplier payments with accuracy and compliance.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card facilities.
- Assist with payroll processing and superannuation payments.
- Support debtor invoicing and reconciliation.
- Help prepare financial data for end-of-month reporting.
- Maintain general ledger coding and assist with journal entries.
- Provide budget holders with actuals and expenditure updates.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Contribute to a warm, welcoming office environment.
About You:
You are:
- Warm and approachable, with a customer service mindset.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organisational and time management skills.
- Confident and dependable, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Tech-savvy, with experience in MYOB, Excel, and digital file management.
- Open to growth, with a willingness to learn and develop within a changing structure.
You’ll need:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- A Certificate III in Accounts Administration or equivalent (highly desirable).
- Experience in payroll and bookkeeping tasks.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
- A current Blue Card (mandatory).
- Full working rights in Australia.
What You’ll Get:
- A supportive team and collaborative culture.
- 1 day per week WFH after onboarding.
- Daily lunch and car parking space provided.
- A chance to grow with the College during an exciting period of change.
